AIR TIMOR APPOINTS PILOTS and ENGINEER
Dili, 15 March 2016 ….Timor –Leste’s local Airline Air Timor has appointed its first pilots and Engineer –all young Timorese graduates.
President / Director Abessy Bento announced this today and said “Julito Gonzaga and Sertinho Soares have been appointed as pilots and will undergo additional training in Perth Australia over the next few months before returning to Dili for additional training with experienced Australian Pilots to operate a Cessna Grand Caravan Aircraft on Charter operations.”
Air Timor will be bringing its first aircraft to Timor- Leste in May “This is part of our plan to ultimately operate our own large jet aircraft on International routes“. Mr Abessy said. Air Timor currently wet leases aircraft from Silk Air and Citilink Indonesia.
Julito was born in Tutuala and educated at Nino Conis Santana De Lautem. He then went to the Philippines and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Air Transportation and then to Australia to obtain his Australian Flight Crew Licence.
Sertinho was born in Emera, educated at Dom Bosco Fatumaca and completed a similar Degree in the Philippines and also obtained his Australian Flight Crew Licence in Brisbane Australia.
Mr Bento also announced the appointment of Air Timor’s first trainee Engineer – Alarico Araujo who was educated at St Luis Gonzaga and at Suai Senior High and then obtained a Bachelor of Science in Aircraft Maintenance at the Philippines State College of Aeronautics.
Alarico will be off to work and train in Darwin Australia for twelve months to obtain an Engineering Licence approved by the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority before returning to Dili to take up his position with Air Timor.
Mr Bento said Air Timor was finalising appointments for two Senior Australian Pilots -a Chief Pilot and a Check and Training Pilot who would be contracted for two years to establish Air Timor’s Flight Operations and specifically train Timorese pilots to a world class level”. These Senior Pilots are both experienced and qualified to operate single and twin engine aircraft , and will be soon be arriving with their families to live in Dili.“ he said.
“Our aim is to build Air Timor as a safe airline that operates to the highest aviation standards- one that Timor can be proud off,“ Mr Abessy said.
